To RaceChip Or Not To RaceChip? That is the question.

There is a lot of controversy around Tuning Boxes and RaceChip is no exception. Do they work? Are they safe? Why should I buy one instead of a Calibration/Remap?

I hope to explain and put some minds at ease with the following information about RaceChip Tuning Modules and XLR pedal boxes.

RaceChip are a German Tuning Company that have been producing RaceChip Modules for Force Induced vehicles, both petrol and Diesel since 2008. Every Year 100,000 new customers are established including Trade networks globally with the UK Trade Network being looked after by Awesome here in Manchester.

What does a RaceChip do? How does it work?

The RaceChip, compatible with over 3000 vehicles from 60 manufacturers, sits between sensors and the vehicle’s ECU optimizing the Injector Pressure, Injector Volume and Turbo Pressure, in turn, Increasing the engines combustion thermal efficiency, releasing more energy and therefore more power. RaceChips can also be transferred to other vehicles, in some cases, just at the cost of a new cable.

Why choose a RaceChip?

There are many reasons to choose a RaceChip. The RaceChip Module is for one, completely removable and fully controllable whether on the Module itself or via the optional App.
There are upto 7 fine tunings available to suit your driving needs and three different Modules to choose from. Fuel Saving may be your objective rather than power, where up to 15% fuel saving can be achieved. Mainly of course, Power and torque increases are the objective where upto 30% more power over Manufacturers claimed output can be achieved.
Fitting can also be done by a competent DIY auto mechanic and in many cases can be fitted in less than half an hour!

There will always be negativity towards products of this nature, this is by no means a replacement to mapping but is a viable and excellent alternative, we currently have an M2 Comp’, RS6 C8 and MK8 GTI here at Awesome, that have all benefited from Racechip tuning Boxes. They WORK! More power has been achieved on all our cars without any issues.

What is the XLR?

RaceChip’s XLR module is the difference between a good driving experience and a great one! The XLR can be added to almost every vehicle with a Fly-by-wire Throttle (Inc some EV’s) giving you more control over the Throttle response. Some modern throttles can feel very lethargic, pulling out at junctions can be a disturbing experience. The RaceChip XLR transforms this experience into a positive and safer one! Alongside a RaceChip Module or even a Remap, the XLR can transform how your vehicle feels and performs. Even parking can be made easier using XLR by reducing the sensitivity of the throttle response.

Conclusion.

RaceChip Tuning boxes are a simple and effective way of achieving more power and torque, contrary to some beliefs, these DO WORK! This as mentioned, is not an “instead of” mapping, more of a viable and excellent alternative. Can be removed/fitted in many cases very quickly and even transferred to other vehicles with minimum costs. So, to RaceChip or not to RaceChip? Well, Lease a car?
