RTS Clutch Manufacturer Extended Performance Warranty
We Stand By The Quality Of Our Products
RTS Performance Clutch and Flywheel products are covered by a 12-month product manufacturer guarantee. Our Extended Performance Warranty (EPCW) will cover replacement / repair warranty against defects in materials fouled or damaged caused by the following non – manufacturer failure.
Warranty Conditions
The Extended Performance Warranty Cover procedure must be adhered too.
- Prior to new clutch kit being fitted, the flywheel must be within manufacturers factory tolerance.
DMF bolt on Clutch: DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) bolt on clutches MUST be installed with a new DMF or the current DMF must be within manufacturers factory tolerance. Our research has found over time that some DMF’s fail as the lateral bearing inside start to perish resulting in the DMF having too much lateral movement / play. Once a DMF loses its ability to absorb heat and absorb vibrations from the transmission it will normally become out of tolerance (lateral movement will be replaced by the unit moving forward and back). This will then cause the clutch to either slip or be unable to engage from the DMF. This will result in eventual failure of the clutch unit.
- Warranty claims will not be issued until the said goods have been assessed and deemed faulty by the Seller.
The original DMF and CSC must be returned to RTS along with the returned RTS Performance Clutch or we have the right to cancel the warranty. This allows our engineers to identify any reasons for failure or diagnose issues within the transmission. This assists the mechanic on any other potential issues and gives the driver / customer peace of mind.
Please note your car is going to be off the road for a minimum of 3 days. We will only send a replacement out once we have recieved back the original RTS clutch / SMF and any other parts we request.
- The Seller will not pay any claim for goods repaired by the Buyer.
The RTS Extended Performance Cover Warranty DOES NOT cover any labour fees / costs. Only the Performance Clutch and / or SMF are included in our cover. The RTS Performance Extended Cover also covers any RTS CSC (concentric Salve Cylinder) when purchased with any of our clutch kits or SMF’s Please refer to point 11. (a).
What the Extended Warranty Covers:
- Replacement Drive Plate (Clutch Friction Plate)
- Replacement Pressure Plate (Clutch Cover)
- Damage to SMF (single Mass Flywheel)
- Damage to RTS CSC ONLY (Concentric Slave Cylinder)
- Replacement Flywheel Bolts (SMF ONLY)
- Replacement Pressure Plate Bolts
- Free diagnosis of your returned item including Clamp Load test, Run out test and contamination review. A full written report will be emailed over within 7 days of the item being returned. We may also contact you via phone to talk to you about our engineers’ report / findings.
- Free re-delivery of replacement item
- The item must be returned to RTS Europe Ltd at the customer’s own cost.
- Full collection or delivery tracking must be supplied to RTS Europe Ltd admin team via email to the registered email address m.kelly@rtsperformance.co.uk
- Install errors from Tuner, Mechanic, or end user:
Contamination of friction material – Too much copper grease used on a spline can be splattered across the Clutch and Flywheel. Contamination of the friction material will weaken it and over time lead to the clutch drive plate cracking or in some circumstances splitting or perishing. Contamination from copper grease on the pressure plate can lead to heat marks again weakening the drive plate resulting in slippage or clutch failure.
This extended cover WILL replace the clutch either with new bills of materials and a complete rebuild or replacement with a new unit. (This covers the Performance Clutch Kit inc an RTS SMF and RTS CSC ) This warranty does not cover any failure of the DMF.
Mis – alignment of a clutch on the spline is a lot more common than people think. During our vast experience and training we have identified mis- alignment as one of the top 5 reasons for clutch issues. Each manufacturer has a varying number of “Spline teeth” which the drive plate threads onto. When the drive plate has not been threaded correctly by the installer it can lead too:
Causes: | Effects: | Solution: |
Transmission input shaft has been forced into the hub. |
Clutch disk sticks on the transmission input shaft, meaning that the clutch does not disengage completely. |
Replace the clutch kit. |
Clutch disk was not centred during installation. |
Clutch grabs |
Center the clutch disk during installation. |
Incorrect clutch has been installed. |
|
Install the transmission using a suitable lifting device. |
|
|
Use a reputable clutch installer. |
- Warranty will apply when the goods sold are installed to a vehicle used for standard driving and fast road use.
Warranty Usage:
- Fast road use and general driving
- Standard Daily Driving
Warranty does not cover:
- Speed trials
- Racing
- Time trials
- Track days
Warranty is a 12-month warranty and applied to 1 replacement only of a Performance Clutch should any of the below happen:
- Oil or grease contaminated facings
- Burnt-out or broken facings
- Severely worn or broken torsion damper springs
- Damaged Hub Splines
- Cover Assembly
- Severely worn or broken diaphragm fingers
- Burnt-out pressure plate
- Bent or broken drive straps
- Severely worn or broken bearing
- Release Bearings perished
- All goods supplied by the seller are warranted against faulty material and/or workmanship but not maltreatment damaged caused by collision.
Any clutch that has been in a vehicle involved in any form of accident or has been deemed un-road worthy by the insurer is not covered under this warranty.
- Products which have been altered, amended, or repaired by a mechanic or another body non RTS related is not covered under this warranty.
In some cases, mechanics, or engineers (not RTS) may try and fit a product to a vehicle / transmission which the clutch has not been cross reference too. This can result in pressure plates or drive plates being altered to fit a particular application.
This will VOID any warranty immediately. Any returned clutch or flywheel will be checked for thickness and interference works post validating any warranty.
*Please note all clutch kits are individually built for each application and we do not use generic parts. Please only order the correct part number to fit your vehicle.
**IMPORTANT**
RTS Performance Clutch (a division of RTS EUROPE LTD & The RTS Group) does not accept the following failures as warranty claims Driven Plates:
- Performance Clutches which have been in a vehicle that has been in any accident.
- If your insurance company has classed the vehicle as written off or un-road worthy.
- The car is sold to another person. This automatically VOIDS the warranty.
- The clutch is moved from one car to another. Second hand when installed in another vehicle.
- The RTS Performance Clutch Warranty is only valid in respect of clutches fitted to vehicle applications which are specifically listed in the current catalogue. The warranty is immediately invalidated where clutches are installed to vehicle applications not listed in the catalogue, and no warranty claim will be considered by RTS Europe Ltd in respect of such clutches.
Before removing the clutch from the vehicle
- Make sure that the clutch has been correctly fitted according to any relevant fitment guidelines, as well as the instructions in the workshop repair manual for the vehicle.
- Check the vehicle thoroughly before removing the clutch to ensure that the clutch problem has not resulted from the vehicles faults such as a defective or incorrectly adjusted clutch release mechanism, work driveline mountings or oil leaks.

Our engineers may ask for your original DMF and Concentric slave cylinder (CSC) to be returned with your clutch for inspection. We will return this the next day via DPD or Fed Ex.
- RTS Europe Ltd Engineers will inspect the clutch parts and provide a detailed technical report to the original purchaser of the goods (End user, installer, workshop, or distributor).
Helpful recommendations for bedding in/running procedures:
- If reusing the existing flywheel make sure it is in full working order and that any lateral movement is within manufacturers tolerance, otherwise this warranty is Void.
- Make sure clutch hardware / hydraulics work properly.
- For example (and not limited to) a clutch is installed in a 20-year-old vehicle that still has the original master cylinder and slave cylinder with 20 years of wear and debris in the hydraulic system.
- It is recommended to flush the pipework through. Will original components cope with acting on a higher-pressure assembly? Are the Pivot balls/points/pins and arm in perfect condition?
- All clutch components must be supplied by RTS and not mix and matched with another brand apart from the OE CSC.
- Where clutches are supplied with release bearings these must be installed correctly, if pressing is required you must use the correct tools otherwise damage will occur. If kit is supplied with a CSC (concentric slave cylinder) it will be the OEM part or an RTS branded design, do not repeatedly squeeze it, or press the face of the cylinder in unless it is part of the actual fitting/bleeding process.
- Failure to run in or set up properly can result in many faults which include but are not limited to a noisy release bearing, CSC leaks, Broken/damaged linings, excess judder/shudder, disc dragging broken fasteners, damaged covers and warranty may be void.
- If reusing the existing flywheel, it should be refaced (and re stepped if applicable). Clutch pedals and bearing clearance must be correctly adjusted.
